Oklahoma Wesleyan University enters its 121st year with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for God’s faithfulness and a renewed confidence in His continued leading.

Faithfulness That Bears Fruit

For more than a century, through sacrificial supporters, faithful churches, dedicated faculty and staff, and generations of students, God has sustained the mission of OKWU: to develop and send servant leaders who advance the Kingdom of God.

The stories in this issue point to a simple truth: God often does His greatest work through ordinary faithfulness sustained over time. In a culture that is often marked by division, uncertainty, and shifting convictions, OKWU remains anchored in the unchanging truth of Scripture and the transforming power of the Gospel. While some institutions feel pressure to redefine themselves according to the spirit of the age, OKWU stands firmly committed to biblical truth, Christ-centered formation, and the lordship of Jesus Christ.

That commitment shapes everything we do. We educate students not only for careers, but for lives of faithful service. We challenge them to think critically, engage culture wisely, and lead courageously with conviction and compassion. Our desire is not merely to prepare graduates for success in the marketplace and ministry, but to send men and women into the world who reflect Christ in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.

What encourages me most is not simply what our students accomplish, but who they are becoming as they learn to lead with conviction, serve with humility, and follow Christ wherever He calls.

Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” That verse captures the heart of OKWU today. The fruit we see across campus and beyond is the result of generations of students, faculty, churches, and supporters who have faithfully answered God’s call.

Looking Ahead with Confidence

This year also marks an important leadership transition as former president, Dr. Jim Dunn, begins his new role as General Superintendent of The Wesleyan Church. While we celebrate his expanded influence and faithful leadership, the mission of OKWU remains unchanged. God has been faithful for all these years, and we move forward with confidence that He is not finished with the work He has called us to do.
