Blast off into real-world science!
What does it take to send a mission to Mars—and bring it home safely? At Mission to Mars STEM Camp, students don’t just learn about space exploration—they become the engineers behind it.
Over four action-packed days, campers will work in teams to design rockets, build robotic rovers, and solve the kinds of engineering challenges scientists face when exploring the Red Planet. From launch to landing, every project is hands-on, collaborative, and built to spark curiosity and confidence.
What Students Will Do:
Participants will work in collaborative teams and engage in authentic STEM challenges inspired by real space missions:
- Designing, building, launching, and retrieving rockets.
- Creating a safe landing system for Martian exploration.
- Building and programming robotic rovers to navigate simulated Martian terrain.
- Competing in “Martian Surface” mission contests, where students test the performance of their rockets and rovers against various challenges.
All activities are age-appropriate, highly interactive, and led by experienced instructors.
Who Should Attend:
Designed for students grades 5–9 who are curious about space, engineering, robotics, or science. No prior experience required—activities are structured to welcome beginners while offering advanced challenges for experienced learners.

- Location: OKWU Science Building & Drake Library (Rooms 201/202)
- Cost: $100 (Scholarships available)

Camp Fee: $100
Scholarships Available: Thanks to grant funding, a limited number of need-based scholarships are available, with priority given to underserved students.
Scholarship application instructions will be provided during registration.
