A Day Dedicated to Evidence-Based Practice and Servant Leadership

The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Department of Nursing proudly celebrated the success of its recent Implementation Science Symposium, hosted in partnership with Hillcrest South. The event brought together nurses, educators, and healthcare professionals for a day dedicated to advancing evidence-based practice and servant leadership in nursing.

Led by Dr. Rosanina Ketchum and Dr. Anna Mangimela, faculty members in OKWU’s Department of Nursing, the event exemplified the university’s mission to educate servant leaders who are equipped to meet the needs of a changing world. 

 

 

Equipping Nurses Through Innovation and Research 

The symposium featured a dynamic lineup of presentations addressing key issues in healthcare today, including leadership development, career advancement, trauma-informed care, research integration, and servant leadership frameworks. Speakers shared insights from quality improvement projects and implementation studies designed to strengthen patient outcomes, empower nursing teams, and support professional resilience.


One of the many sponsor booths was presented. Poster presentations further showcased the breadth of nursing innovation, highlighting projects focused on reducing burnout, improving patient safety, strengthening rural healthcare systems, and enhancing clinical education. Together, these sessions reinforced the importance of connecting research, faith, and practice in meaningful ways. 

 

Looking Ahead: Building on a Strong Foundation

The collaboration with Hillcrest South underscored OKWU’s commitment to academic-practice partnerships that prepare nurses for real-world leadership and service. As attendees departed, enthusiasm remained high, with many already looking ahead to next year’s symposium and continued opportunities for growth and collaboration.
