A New Season of Stewardship

Three months after Oklahoma Wesleyan University announced the appointment of Steve Lessman as Vice President of Advancement, he has officially stepped into the role at a pivotal moment in the University’s history. As campus initiatives move from vision to reality, Lessman begins his leadership with a focus on cultivating partnerships that will shape the next generation of servant leaders.

From the ongoing transformation of Wert Hall to the expansion of the Eagle Campus Project, OKWU is investing in spaces that strengthen community, enhance the student experience, and support long-term institutional growth. These initiatives reflect more than campus improvements, they represent an investment in the people and mission that define OKWU.

Investing in More Than Buildings

Throughout the past year, OKWU has continued to make strategic investments across campus. The renovation of Wert Hall will preserve one of the University’s most meaningful residential communities, while the relocation of the softball field and Eagle Campus Expansion Project will create opportunities for expanded athletic facilities and future campus development.

These projects align with the University’s conviction that facilities are never the destination, they are tools for formation. Residence halls become places where lifelong friendships begin, athletic facilities cultivate discipline and teamwork, and gathering spaces foster spiritual growth. Every improvement supports OKWU’s mission to develop and send servant leaders who advance the Kingdom of God.

Advancing the Mission Through Partnership

Lessman brings decades of experience in Christian education, institutional advancement, and nonprofit leadership. His background in strategic partnerships, grant development, and organizational stewardship uniquely positions him to help strengthening relationships with alumni, churches, donors, foundations, and friends of the University.

I am honored to join the Oklahoma Wesleyan community at this pivotal moment,” Lessman said. “I look forward to partnering with faithful friends of the university to expand our impact and ensure that students are equipped spiritually, academically, and personally for meaningful lives of service.”

His leadership arrives at a time when generosity and vision are working together to shape the future of OKWU, ensuring that today’s investments create lasting opportunities for generations of Eagles to come.

Looking Ahead

As OKWU continues building momentum, Lessman looks forward to partnering with those who believe in the University’s Christ-centered mission. Together, these relationships will help steward resources, strengthen the student experience, and expand the University’s Kingdom impact for years to come.
